Conformation Classes

“Conformation” is the official name for “dog shows.” While they may seem glamorous, the true purpose of conformation showing is to evaluate breeding stock. The dog’s conformation—his overall appearance and structure—is an indication of the dog’s ability to produce quality purebred puppies, and that is what is being judged in the ring. That’s why mixed-breeds and spayed or neutered purebreds are not eligible to compete.
LKC offers beginner, intermediate and advanced conformation classes. Beginner's class will introduce the newcomer to the show ring while the intermediate and advanced classes will provide time for experienced handlers to work their dog with the guidance of more experienced handlers. The first week is an orientation night without your dog, followed by 7 weeks of classes with your dog. The last week of class is a fun match for the students.
